PADEMIA Teaching Award 2016

PADEMIA teaching award 2016 – Prof. Michael Kaeding

Jean-Monnet Professor Michael Kaeding of the University of Duisburg-Essen wins this year’s “PADEMIA Teaching Award” and is thus honoured Europe-wide for his NRW-wide cross-university debate initiative “NRW debates Europe” and his outstanding achievements in the field of teaching.

PADEMIA is a Europe-wide network of 56 academic institutions from 31 countries that promote research and teaching in response to European demands for a growing parliamentary democracy in Europe. PADEMIA’s aim is to improve the discussion on how parliaments and citizens across Europe deal with and how to deal with them.

„NRW debattiert Europa“ is a project by the University of Duisburg-Essen in cooperation with the Westphalian Wilhelms University Münster, the Ruhr University Bochum, the Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf and the University of Cologne. It offers Bachelor’s and Master’s students the opportunity to expand their debating skills in a competitive environment and, at the same time, to broaden their knowledge of issues relevant to Europe. The project was financially supported by the Ministry of Federal Affairs, Europe and Media of North Rhine-Westphalia.
