PADEMIA TEACHING AWARD 2016

PADEMIA Teaching Award 2016 – Prof. Michael Kaeding

Jean-Monnet Professor Michael Kaeding of the University of Duisburg-Essen wins this year's "PADEMIA Teaching Award" and is thus recognized for his NRW-wide cross-university debating initiative "NRW debattiert Europa" and his outstanding achievements in teaching across Europe.

PADEMIA is a Europe-wide network of 56 academic institutions from 31 countries that promote research and teaching in response to the European demands for a growing parliamentary democracy in Europe. PADEMIA's goal is to improve the discussion about the handling and possible coping strategies that parliaments and citizens are confronted with across Europe.

"NRW debattiert Europa" is a project of the University of Duisburg-Essen in cooperation with the Westphalian Wilhelms University of Münster, the Ruhr University of Bochum, the Heinrich Heine University of Düsseldorf and the University of Cologne. It offers bachelor and master students the opportunity to develop their debating skills in a competitive environment while broadening their knowledge of European-related issues. The project was financially supported by the Ministry for Federal Affairs, Europe and Media of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia.
