Dr. Matthias Freise

Dr. Matthias Freise has been Academic Senior Counsellor at the Institute for Political Science of the Westphalian Wilhelms University Münster since 2009. His research focus is on the European integration process, in particular EU cohesion policy. Mr. Freise also conducts research in the field of civil society and third sector research. In the winter semester he will defend his habilitation on the topic "Civil Society between Empirical Facticity and Democratic Utopia".

Dr. Oliver Schwarz

Dr. Oliver Schwarz has been working in research and teaching at the Institute for Political Science at the University of Duisburg-Essen since 2004. Since 2012, he has been coordinating the mentoring program for the bachelor's program in political science. The dissertation was published in 2010 under the title „Erweiterung als Überinstrument der Europäischen Union? Zur Europäisierung des westlichen Balkans seit der EU-Osterweiterung“, published by Nomos Verlag. His aim is to explain the process of European integration and the enlargement of the European Union vividly and to accompany it critically. 

Dr. Florian Spohr

Dr. Florian Spohr has been a research assistant at the Chair of Comparative Politics at the Ruhr University Bochum since 2009. He teaches and conducts research on labour market and social policy, mediation of interests, policy analysis and European integration.

Dr. Anna Meine

Anna Meine received her doctorate from the Albert-Ludwigs-University Freiburg and is now a research assistant at the Institute for Social Sciences at the University of Siegen. Her research focuses on the areas of democracy theory and international political theory. She works on questions of democratic self-determination and democratic institution building in the state and beyond, on possibilities and limits of (multiple) democratic citizenships and increasingly on the idea of political independence and (European) independence movements. Her teaching covers the fields of political theory and the history of ideas, but she also teaches courses on federalism, devolution and European integration.

Prof. Dr. Sven-Oliver Proksch

Sven-Oliver Proksch is professor of European and multi-level politics at the Cologne Center for Comparative Politics at the University of Cologne. He was previously Associate Professor of Political Science at McGill University and Co-Director of the European Union Centre of Excellence in Montreal. Sven-Oliver Proksch holds a PhD in Political Science from the University of California, Los Angeles. His research focuses on questions of political representation at the European and national levels from an empirical-analytical perspective as well as on new methods of political text analysis.
